What is Worship?

At LSCC, we believe that worship is about re-centering ourselves on God and His perspectives. Worship wasn’t just something Jesus did; it was an integral part of his life. We believe that for us to live like Jesus worship needs to be a defining part of our lives, including participation in the weekend worship services.

We worship God by recognizing that He is of greater value than anything else that exists, because He is the creator and sustainer of life itself. Without God we have no existence. He has not only created us, but has supplied grace in the face of our rebellion by sending Christ to suffer the consequences on our behalf. Our only responsibility is repentance and belief.

We worship by engaging our minds and hearts in who God is - in studying scripture and prayer - and in so doing, centering ourselves on His perspective and thus becoming like Christ in attitude and action. In Romans, Paul writes that we are to offer ourselves to God as living sacrifices in a spiritual act of worship. Jesus tells the woman at the well in the John 4, that the true worshipers must worship in spirit and truth. It is the Spirit of God that moves in and through us to make us become like him in worship.

When the Church gathers to worship together, we are coming together as individual worshippers in order that we could encourage and build each other up towards our common goal of Christ-likeness. We sing and pray to God through Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and teach the word and share testimony of what He has done and who He is. Paul writes in Colossians that we are to "Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” Our worship is for both God and for us, for we are refreshed in times of worship, but ultimately Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.

LSCC Kids Choir

If you have a child in grades K-6, we have an opportunity for them to get involved this Spring!  We will meet for four Wednesdays leading up to Easter. The big idea is 3-fold: To teach kids how to experience God through worship, to learn God’s Word, and develop community with other kids who are learning to follow after Jesus! The Kid's choir is going to be MUCH more than just singing.  it will also include: devo time/scripture, small group connecting, fun activities/games.
