*Audrey spoke about the power of replacing your own negative thoughts with the truth.  What truths do you hear as you listen?

  1. Write them in your journal

  2. Share which truths God impressed on your heart with your small group.

  3. Spend time praying for one another that His Spirit would fill you and remind you of each of these truths as you go about your everyday life.  We need community to battle for one another!

-John 14:25-27  All this I have spoken while still with you.  But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

-Psalm 139:5  You hem me in-behind and before; for the glory of the Lord is great.

-Isaiah 43:1-7

These scriptures are taken from “Not Afraid by Jesus Culture”.  Charity spoke about standing on the shore like a child and picturing the waves as things that may cause fear in our lives.

  1. Play “Not Afraid”and “You Make Me Brave” while envisioning your childlike self.  Are there any fears that you identify as a distraction in your life? Practice releasing those fears through worship to the Father.  Worshiping even when we don’t “feel it” has a way of shifting our hearts. (Matthew 14:22-36)

  2.  Release can come through many avenues… writing, speaking it out loud, praying, singing, painting…. Choose your avenue and lock eyes with the Lord as you offer this up as worship in your own space.

  3. As you feel the freedom to be vulnerable, share your fears and ask for prayer.  Spend time praying for one another in your small group.

*Webster’s dictionary describes BREAKTHROUGH as 1 warfare: an offensive military assault that penetrates and carries beyond a defensive line.   2 an act or instance of moving through or beyond an obstacle.

  1. What do you perceive as obstacles in your life or in the lives of those you love? “Won’t Stop Now” by Elevation states that His presence is an open door.   Take some time in His presence to identify an area or areas that need breakthrough. Perhaps there are doors to your heart that require courage to unlock.

  2. We all struggle with trying out many methods of problem solving in our own strength.  Practice using the weapons you have been given for battle….prayer, worship and the Word...

  • Name and journal the obstacles

  • Pray scripture over them while playing worship in the background (gather your battle verses)

  • Take time to pray breakthrough for one another

  • Share your battle verses with one another in small group and take time to pray these over one another.

  • Start a collection of these verses as a group and gather them throughout the school year.

(i.e.  Thank you, Lord that you have said that when I pass through the waters You will be with me. The rivers will not sweep over me and I will not be burned when I walk through the fire.  You are the Lord, my God, the Holy One of Israel, my Savior. I am precious and honored in your sight and You love me. Thank you for being with me. I AM NOT AFRAID when you are MY DEFENDER.  These obstacles (name them) that are in front of me are NOT more than you can handle. Isaiah 43:1-7)
